About

Welcome. Finding a therapist who feels right is a meaningful step. I offer a therapeutic space for adults, with my heart and focus on the mental health and well-being of Black people and people of color. My work centers on trauma healing, with an understanding that trauma, whether from personal experiences, family histories, or the impact of systemic oppression, shapes how we feel in our bodies, how we relate to others, and how safe we feel in the world. Therapy is a place to explore what you’re carrying and to begin easing its weight. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable for you, so you feel supported throughout the process. I use a range of approaches tailored to your needs, including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A therapy that helps the brain heal from traumatic memories and distressing life experiences. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): An approach that provides practical tools for managing difficult emotions and improving relationships. Somatic & Mindfulness Practices: Techniques that help you get in tune with your body and find a greater sense of calm. An Intersectional & Systemic Lens: My approach considers how social structures and intersecting parts of your identity, including race, gender identity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and ability, have impacted your mental and physical health. ABOUT SHERRIE (she/her/hers) I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been providing individual therapy for over eight years. My clinical approach is shaped by a deep commitment to social justice and is informed by training from Critical Therapy Institute and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapies (ICP). My dedication to this work is shaped by my lived and professional experience, including past work in housing and justice direct service and advocacy. This background allows me to approach your healing with an understanding of how systemic and personal histories intersect. FEES & INSURANCE My fee is $200-$280 per session. I am an out-of-network provider. If you'd like to use your insurance, I can guide you on what to ask your provider about out-of-network benefits. If you are eligible for out-of-network benefits, I can provide the necessary documentation (called a superbill) to help with this process. I also offer a limited number of spaces for a sliding scale fee. This is based on a consideration of your financial situation and barriers to mental health access. If you are interested, please let me know when you reach out, and I will let you know if a spot is available. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What kinds of issues do you work with? I specialize in trauma healing, and I also support people navigating depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, emotional regulation challenges, and racial and intersectional identity. What are sessions like? Sessions are 50 minutes long. Depending on your needs, our time might involve exploring emotions, making connections to past experiences, or working with grounding practices to help you feel more settled. What if I’ve never been in therapy before? It’s normal to feel unsure of what to expect. We’ll work together to create a space where difficult feelings can be explored with care and at a pace that feels manageable for you. Will therapy work for me? Therapy is a unique journey for each person. I can’t promise specific outcomes or timelines, but I am committed to walking alongside you with care and supporting you in your growth. Many people find that therapy helps them gain a deeper understanding of themselves, feel more at peace, and build strength to handle life’s difficulties. Do you take insurance? I am an out-of-network provider. You may be able to receive partial reimbursement from your insurance. For more details on fees and how to use your out-of-network benefits, please see the Fees & Insurance section.
